I’m posting a six-part series on Leif Surana and her time in the Circle at Kinloch Hold before the beginning of Dragon Age: Origins. These are all prompt fills from days gone by, finally assembled in chronological order. Leif always had a combative relationship with the Templars, and this shows through.
Excerpt:
“I am Wynne,” said Wynne, and Thrand translated. “You have reached the Circle of Magi. It is now your home. What is your name?”
What was she talking about? “Let me go. Let me go. Let me bury my parents. What is wrong with you people? Let me go.”
Wynne said, “Your parents have gone to the Maker’s side.”
Grief crashed over her, unfiltered. “They’re rotting in the fucking street!”
Greagoir ignored the outburst. “Magic exists to serve man, and never to rule over him. Here you will find what service you were meant for. What is your name?”
Leif would have spat again if her swollen tongue permitted it.
“I think,” said Irving, “that a square meal would be more to the point. Her guardians may have forgotten in their excitement.”
“Come with me,” said Wynne. “There’s no need to be afraid.”
“Let me go home,” Leif growled.
“This is your home.”
“Let me go!”
And Wynne, halfway to wrapping her arm around Leif’s shoulders, went completely blank in the time and space where she might have chosen to help.
And that’s how Dragon Age, a spreading continuity that will eventually include Sonia Hawke, Veldrian Lavellan, and Lynesse Mercar, begins.
