I wasn’t going to do this, but I’ll make an exception: Leif Surana, Sonia Hawke, and Veldrian Lavellan are the main figures in my canonical Dragon Age setting. (Lynesse Mercar is the fourth.) I posted many scenes week by week, but I have no central place you can go to to get their stories. I do have Sonia/Blackwall, but not the others. Sorry. I describe them below.
Leif Surana is a ruthless, pragmatic woman who is abjectly terrified of the archdemon and the Blight. Every horrible thing she does is to place the biggest, toughest things she meets between her and the Blight. And she still has to face it in the end. She befriends Loghain and they enter a long, loyal, amoral death spiral as they rebuild the Wardens and learn to live again. They come to love each other, but the whole brutal pragmatism thing is something that maybe they shouldn’t encourage. (Too late.)
Sonia Hawke was totally fine until Danarius put the blood magic whammy on her to prod her into starting the mage revolution. His test for whether the whammy worked was to force her to sell Fenris back to him. She did. Later, after Fenris kills him, the magic begins to wear off, forcing Sonia to face the Butcher of Kirkwall. That’s how Varric finds her when he brings her to the Inquisition. Blackwall is fascinated by a woman who can live branded as a monster. Who carries it in the open, and is not destroyed. Is it envy or admiration? They’re willing to find out.
Veldrian Lavellan is a poet and historian shanghaied into being a spy. He remains faithful to the old ways and the old gods, doing his best to protect those around him while facing his responsibilities. Also he falls head over heels for Cassandra.
Someday I will go back and properly serialize these in a place with tags. Maybe even this blog.
